Sofija Berezovska was born and raised in Riga, Latvia, a region that is known for volleyball and beach volleyball in Northern Europe.  She began playing volleyball at age 9, learning and training at every position.  She continued her passion to play all throughout school and university, attending Riga School 61 where she won a Latvian volleyball championship. 

She came to the United States in 2012 to play volleyball for Seminole State College in Oklahoma where she earned All-Region Team honors as an outside hitter.  She transferred to MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas before the 2014 season.  At MidAmerica Nazarene, Sofija was named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference First-Team in 2014. Before joining the Ultimate Performance Volleyball Club in 2019, Sofija coached club volleyball for Southwind Rising Volleyball Club in Olathe, Kansas working with players in the 12 through 17-and-under age groups.
