Ashley grew up in Collinsville, OK, and graduated from Collinsville High School in 1997. Although she began playing volleyball later than most, starting in her freshman year of high school, Ashley quickly excelled. During her high school career, she became a standout player, being named to the All-State Volleyball Team in 1997 and earning MVP honors at the state tournament in both 1995 and 1997. She was also named Gatorade Player of the Year in 1997. Ashley played club volleyball for the Dream Catchers from her sophomore through senior years, qualifying for Junior Nationals all three seasons.

After high school, Ashley continued her volleyball career at Texas Tech University from 1997 to 1999, where she received the team's Most Improved Player award in 1998. Following a knee injury in the spring of 1999, she transferred to the University of Tulsa, where she played volleyball and earned her bachelor’s degree in arts and science in 2001.

Since 1998, Ashley has been a dedicated volleyball coach, working with various clubs and school programs in the Tulsa area, as well as in Lubbock from 1998 to 1999. Recently, she was honored with induction into the Collinsville High School Hall of Fame. Ashley currently resides with her fiancé, Brian, and her three wonderful children, Matt, Marissa, and Allison, along with their beloved dog, Huxley.
